In the lab · a two-week test

The rack record, written at the rack.

Document a rack while you stand in front of it. Scan the label, place the device, tap the two ends of a cable, and the as-built writes itself: a cable schedule, a PDF handover, or a push straight into NetBox. Rack planning lives on a desk today; the patching happens at the rack, with one hand free.

What it does 01 / 03
  1. Open the rack. Site, room, rack. The elevation shows every U, front and rear, as it stands. Works fully offline.
  2. Scan the label. Point the camera at the device label or asset tag. On-device text and barcode recognition reads the model and serial; a library of device types fills in the U height and the port layout. Typing is the fallback, never the default.
  3. Place it. Drop the device at its U position. Overlaps and wrong rack heights are flagged on the spot.
  4. Patch it. Tap a port, tap the far-end port, confirm. Cable type, colour, length and label are a swipe away. A photo of the panel attaches to the record.
  5. Hand it over. A cable schedule as CSV in NetBox import format, a PDF as-built with elevations and photos, or a push to NetBox with a review of every object before it goes.

Planned price: free for one site and two racks with CSV export; Pro USD 29.99 once, per platform, for unlimited racks, label scanning, the PDF as-built and NetBox sync. iOS first, Android four weeks later. Rackfield is not affiliated with NetBox Labs; it syncs with NetBox 3 and 4 through the REST API.

Who it is for 02 / 03

The engineer at the rack

Integrators, ISPs, managed service providers, campus and municipal IT: whoever patches and has to write it down afterwards.

The NOC and the next engineer

Need to know what port 17 on the core goes to, without a site visit.

The customer

Wants an as-built at handover, and a current one a year later.

One question 03 / 03

Tell us how you do it today.

We are deciding whether to build Rackfield on what engineers tell us in the next two weeks. One answer and an email address is enough.

Would you pay USD 29.99 once for the Pro version (unlimited racks, label scanning, PDF as-built, NetBox sync)?

A test, not a launch. If enough engineers want it, we build it and tell you. If not, we tell you that too. Your address is used for nothing else.
